DESCRIPTION

This year’s Tricks and Musical Treats: A PPO Family Concert, is the first PPO family concert away from the Center grounds after a successful return to live/face-to-face performance at the CCP Main Theater last year (2022). This annual Halloween concert brings together parents, children, and family members in a fun event composed of interactive activities that aim to develop in young children an early foundation for music education and appreciation for orchestral music.

This year, with its theme “Giddy-Up to Our Rodeorchestral Ride!,” the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO), under the baton of Maestro Herminigildo Ranera, will introduce kids to children to orchestral music and the orchestra’s families of instruments in an exciting way that is joyfully engaging and very relatable. Children will also learn how to “conduct” an orchestra and get to meet deifferent characters like Harmonica, Drumboy the Cowboy, Octavio, Banjo, Mandolin, Sheriff Hermie, and the PPO Rangers. The title of the show incorporates a play on the words “Rodeo” and “Orchestra” resulting in “Rodeorchestra,” to spark and pique the curiosity and interest of young minds. All of these within a Cowboy-themed, kid-friendly, and family-friendly musical adventure that makes learning a fun process using imagination and creativity and participation.

To make the event even more engaging, participants are encouraged to be in cowboy-themed costumes.  In keeping with the show’s tradition, we will award BEST IN COSTUME prizes to lucky winners.
