DESCRIPTION:
Join us for an unforgettable evening as the world-renowned Spanish artist Niño de Elche, an unconventional “cantaor” (flamenco singer) and groundbreaking multidisciplinary artist, takes the stage in Manila. Known for his daring blend of flamenco singing, performances, poetry, improvisation, minimalism, rock, and electronic music, Niño de Elche redefines the flamenco tradition with every note. In his solo concert, Memorial Flamenco Gitano (A Celebration of Gypsy Flamenco), he will be accompanied by guitarist Emilio Fernández (Caracafe), creating a performance that is both reflective and provocative.
This event offers Filipino audiences, more accustomed to traditional flamenco, a rare glimpse into the avant-garde. Niño de Elche’s approach is one of fearless experimentation and self-expression. He breaks out of the mold — he sings what he wants, when he wants, and how he wants. because he knows and because he can. He is a multidisciplinary artist who leaves the door open for art, polemics, singing, criticism and reflection. With art as his medium, Niño de Elche invites listeners to engage with flamenco in a way that challenges convention and inspires reflection. Don’t miss this chance to experience flamenco at its most innovative.

ABOUT NIÑO DE ELCHE
Rooted in a deep knowledge of flamenco – from its foundational elements to its most essential expressions – Niño de Elche declares himself an “ex-flamenco.” It is a way of expressing his determination to recognize the different zero zones the art and its topics leave behind; an inexhaustible research that is personal and also collective.
Collaborator to renowned artists like C. Tangana, Los Planetas, and Israel Galván, Niño de Elche is not only a cantaor but also a poet, essayist, and radio host with two shows on Radio Nacional de España. He has also been featured in award-winning films. In his latest release, Cante a lo gitano (2024), he brings fresh perspective to the work of Manuel Torre (1880–1933), one of flamenco’s unsung pioneers. With the powerful voices of Rocío Márquez and Perrate, this album—his seventeenth—is a masterpiece, capturing Niño de Elche’s artistry at its peak.
