This dynamic festival component brings the biennale’s creative spirit online, featuring:

  • Young at Art: Kids put leading Filipino artists on the hot seat and ask them questions about art and art-making! With the episodes recorded live, this season brings them into the very spaces where art comes to life, creating an immersive and inspiring exploration of the creative world.
  • Tara, Laro Tayo: A milestone project that celebrates and preserves Filipino culture through dance films. The project blends the joyful spirit of traditional games with the dynamism of indigenous dances from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, promoting folk and indigenous arts to younger generations.
  • Himig Himbing – Mga Heleng Atin: A project dedicated to nurturing children with traditional Filipino lullabies, featuring music videos based on ethnomusicologist Sol Trinidad’s research, with musical arrangements by Krina Cayabyab.

Jeffrey Ching’s BEFORE BRABANT

Before Brabant is a contemporary coming-of-age opera that blends musical tradition with modern media for a one-of-a-kind artistic experience. The story follows Helyas, a young man on a quest to discover his origin and true family, as tragedy and faith shape his journey. The production combines an animated film with live sound, featuring performances by Andion Fernandez, Byeong-In Park, Ervin Lumauag, and Stefanie Quintin, alongside the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Maestro Gregorz Nowak.

Mga Kuwento ni Juan Tamad is the latest addition to ARDP’s expansive repertoire of Filipino works, this time designed specifically for Children’s Dance Theater. Choreographed by Erl Sorilla under the guidance of National Artist for Dance Alice Reyes and ARDP Artistic Director Ronelson Yadao, with music by Toto Sorioso and production design by Loy Arcenas, brings a new twist to the beloved Filipino children’s story, Juan Tamad.  It follows Juan’s quest for the Gintong Niyog to win Maria Masipag’s hand. Along the way, he meets animals from classic tales like Pagong at Kuneho, Ang Gamu-gamu at ang Lampara, and Buwaya at ang Paboreal, learning valuable lessons that guide him on his path. Perfect for students, the show connects with subjects like Filipino, Arts, Music, and Personal Development, offering an engaging educational experience through dance and storytelling.
