DESCRIPTION:

In a time when accustomed cultures and traditions are slowly diminishing, the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) continuously develops programs, projects, and productions that promote artistic excellence and nurture the broadest public to participate in art making and cultural appreciation.

For the holiday season, CCP and its resident company Ramon Obusan Folkloric Group (ROFG) bring back the old tradition of Pastores and reintroduce it to young generations through the Vamos A Belén: Sama-samang Paggunita at Pagdiriwang, a festive event showcasing a variety of Philippine Christmas traditions in the forms of competition, exhibition, and performances.

Pastores Dance Competition

A national folk dance competition that focus on the interpretation of dance literature of Infantes of Sanchez Mira, Cagayan Valley. Open to all professional, school-based and community-based dance groups, the competition aims to provide platform for the artists and groups to showcase and maximize their talents.

Vamos A Belen Performance

A restaging of the classic Vamos A Belen production showcasing different Philippine Christmas tradition such as Posadas, Pastores dances, Christmas influences and customs featuring the Ramon Obusan Folkloric Group, it’s affiliate groups, and past winners of Pastores Dance Competition.
