THE Cultural Center of the Philippines, in cooperation with the University of the Philippines presents the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra in a concert on February 3, 2023, 5:30pm at the EB Copeland Gym, UPLB in Los Baños, Laguna.
Entitled Sunsets at Makiling, the concert brings the PPO to audiences in Los Baños and other nearby towns for a rare experience of live orchestral music with a beautiful backdrop of sunset in the mountains. The concert features light classical masterworks as well as “pops” arranged for the symphony orchestra and performed with special guest artists Antonio Jesus Quilloy on saxophone and soprano Pauline Therese Arejola, under the baton of Maestro Herminigildo Ranera.
The first part of the concert consists of Nabucco Overture (Giuseppe Verdi), Carmen Suite No. 1, Danse Boheme, Chanson de Toreador, Prelude – Aragonaise; Les Toreadors (Georges Bizet), Sabre Dance (Aram Khachaturian), On the Beautiful Blue Danube Waltz (Johann Strauss), Selections from Annie, (Charles Strouse arr. Robert Lowden), and Tritsch Tratsch Polka (Johann Strauss). The second part includes 2016 Playlist (arr. Derrick Atangan), Schindler’s List (John Williams), Aegis in Symphony (arr. Jedrick Itugot), Best of Metropop (arr. JD Villanueva), KPop Medley (Ria Osorio), D’Manila Sound (arr. JD Villanueva), among other works.
The concert will be simultaneously live-streamed via the Cultural Center of the Philippines Facebook page.
