PPO BRINGS ITS BRAND OF MUSIC TO PALAWAN AND CAVITE

THE Cultural Center of the Philippines continues its mission to bring arts closer to the Filipino people through its outreach concerts, featuring the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, in Palawan and Cavite.

The Philippines’ leading orchestra will serenade the Palawanenos on June 17-18, 2023 at 7pm billed as An Evening with the Classics XIII, at the Palawan Convention Center.  Conducted by Maestro Herminigildo Ranera, the PPO concert will feature the Nightingales and its section ensembles like the PPO Woodwind and Brass Quintets.

Music lovers from Cavite will enjoy the world-class performance by the PPO on June 25, 8pm, at The St. Michael the Archangel Parish, Bacoor Cavite. Entitled A Musical Spectacle of Birth and Rebirth, expect a night of wonderful music as the PPO will perform with singer Bituin Escalante and tenor Arman Ferrer.

Program for the two concerts includes light classics, Original Pilipino Music and movie themes.

The outreach concerts are presented in cooperation with the local government of Palawan, led by its Governor Victorino Dennis M. Socrates, and Bacoor, Cavite, headed by its Mayor Strike Revilla.

The events are free and open to the public.

The CCP has been doing outreach concerts, featuring its resident companies, in different regions in the country, with the aim to promote artistic excellence and nurture the broadest publics in art making and appreciation.

While its Main Building is undergoing rehabilitation, the CCP continues its mandate to create, produce, and present excellent and engaging artistic and cultural experiences from the Philippines and all over the world, as well as contribute to the flourishing creative industry in the Philippines.

Established in 1973 as an accompaniment for the performing artists at the CCP Theater, the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra has become the country’s leading orchestra and is widely regarded as one of the best in the country. It has performed with world’s renowned conductors including Mendi Rodan, Piero Gamba, Enrique Batis, Sebastian Bureau, and Nicholas Koch, as well as performed with the best foreign and Filipino artists such as Van Cliburn, Renata Tebaldi, Judith Engel, Anthony Camden, David Benoit, Cecile Licad, Raul Sunico, and Lea Salonga.

The PPO toured Europe in 2001 and participated in the Asia Orchestra Week in September 2002 held at the Tokyo Opera City Hall upon the invitation of the Association of Japanese Symphony Orchestras.  It performed at Bangkok’s National Theater in September 2004 upon the invitation of Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vandhana of Thailand. In June 2016, PPO made history when it became the first Filipino orchestra to perform at the world-renowned Carnegie Hall in New York City.
