CCP ARTHOUSE CINEMA CELEBRATES NATIONAL INDIGENOUS PEOPLE’S MONTH IN OCTOBER

THE Cultural Center of the Philippines’ Arthouse Cinema will showcase films that support and raise awareness of the indigenous cultural communities through a film screening on October 14, 2022, Friday at 2PM at the CCP Tanghalang Manuel Conde.

This event features the Cinemalaya 2014 film, “BWAYA” by Director Francis Xavier Pasion which tells the true story of a 35-year-old Manobo who seeks her daughter who has gone missing and is believed to be attacked by a crocodile; Gawad Alternatibo 2008 short film “KALIMED” directed by Golda Mae Payong that tells the story of a native girl from the Cordillera Mountains who tries to practice her culture while living in the city; and, the Cinemalaya 2008 short film, “ANGAN-ANGAN (DREAMS)” by Sheron Dayoc that centers on a nine-year-old Yakan girl who has been mute but strives her best to secure a good education amid the strictness of her Yakan culture.

A talkback session with the filmmakers or their representatives will follow after the film screening. In addition, CCP Film Society members can also avail themselves of priority seating upon presentation of a membership card.
