Free Discussion on Trophy-making at CCP

The Cultural Center of the Philippines, through the CCP Visual Arts and Museum Division (VAMD), will hold a panel discussion, dubbed “The Art of the Trophy: A Dialogue Between the Artists,” on Friday, May 16, 2025, starting on 2:00 PM, and will be held at the Bulwagang Roberto Chabet, 3rd floor of the Tanghalang Ignacio Gimenez (CCP Black Box Theater).

In line with the celebration of the International Museum Day 2025, the talk is part of the ongoing exhibition Creative Continuum: Thirteen Artists Awards 1970-2024, which marks as the VAMD’s first exhibition for 2025, featuring archival materials, catalogs, videos, artist-designed trophies, and artworks from the CCP Collection.

Visual artists and Thirteen Artists awardees Juan Alcazaren, Gary-Ross Pastrana, and Eric Zamuco discuss the inspirations, challenges, and creative processes behind the trophies of the Thirteen Artists Awards.

The public program delves into the junction of design and visual art through the point of view of the artists who created the iconic trophies and the untold story of trophy-making, from how these trophies came from an idea and were brought to life.

The public is invited to participate in the talk to have a deeper sense of understanding when it comes to the Thirteen Artists Awards through appreciation of the creative practices of the creation of the trophies. Please note that this program is free and open to all, however, only 5o persons will be accommodated. Additionally, pre-registration will be opened on May 9.
