The New Japan Philharmonic (NJP), one of Japan’s leading orchestras, is coming to the Philippines to present a special night of classical music in commemoration of the 70th Anniversary of Friendship between the Philippines and Japan. Founded by world-renowned conductor Seiji Ozawa, the NJP is an orchestra that regularly performs at Sumida Triphony Hall in Tokyo. Since their establishment, the NJP has also performed music from Studio Ghibli films such as “Spirited Away” and “Howl’s Moving Castle.” The concert features internationally renowned, multi-awarded conductor Tetsuji Honna and solo violinist Mayuko Kamio, both widely acclaimed for their exceptional technique, artistic depth, and musical excellence. With the unforgettable and symphonic arrangements of composers Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Ludwig van Beethoven, the performance befits a time to reflect on Japan and the Philippines’ seventy-year journey marked by wonderful milestones, with the theme “Weaving the Future Together: Peace, Prosperity, Possibilities.”
