DESCRIPTION:

Now on its 22nd year, the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival continues to champion bold storytelling and diverse voices in Philippine cinema. With the theme “Reel Reflections,” this year’s festival invites audiences on an inward journey through intimate, thought-provoking films that reflect the depth and complexity of the Filipino experience. 

Cinemalaya 22 will primarily be held at Red Carpet Cinemas, Shangri-La Plaza, with Ayala Malls Cinemas continuing as a long-time partner venue and Gateway Cineplex returning this year, expanding the festival’s reach and making independent Filipino films more accessible to audiences.

Audiences can also experience the 37th Gawad CCP Para sa Alternatibong Pelikula at Video, Southeast Asia’s longest-running independent film competition. Showcasing works across Short Feature/Narrative, Experimental, Documentary, and Animation, the competition continues to champion alternative forms of cinema and provide emerging filmmakers with a platform to push creative boundaries. 

Two decades on, Cinemalaya remains a vital vessel for stories that ignite imagination, celebrate diversity, and fuel the enduring spirit of Philippine cinema. Discover this year’s slate of independent films and stories that move, challenge, and inspire!
