DESCRIPTION:

As man was made to work, so is his desire for rest. But sometimes this innate longing for rest is often aspired to be in level with the time dedicated to work, that the tiny moments that give a humble sense of clarity and peace are often taken for granted. In The Ordinary Man, the artist takes inspiration from the daily lives of the manual laborers, whose occupations demand from them more than a day’s worth of sweat and toil. However, despite of their heavy daily loads, there will always be an instant of fulfillment and quietness in coming home. Paolo Icasas’ landscape paintings are those of scenes that seem to play endlessly in the sidelines as workers make their way home towards their awaited rest. The journey itself is its own kind of rest – a certain time of reflection and immersion in their day’s realized purpose.
