In commemoration of 200 years of the Declaration of Independence, the Embassy of the Argentine Republic and the Cultural Center of Philippines present a concert by Rodolfo Mederos and the String Quartet of the Manila Sympony Orchestra: “A bandoneon in Manila”.
The concert will feature Tango music by the renowned Argentine bandoneonist, composer and arranger Rodolfo Mederos together a string quartet of the Manila Symphony Orchestra. They will offer a vast exhibition of tango music, including classical and modern pieces, ranging from Gardel to Piazzola.
Rodolfo Mederos depicts tango intimately through an eclectic repertoire. For this presentation, classic pieces like “La Cumparsita”, or “Sur”, will combine with Piazzola´s “Five Tango Sensations” and “Adios Nonino”. Maestro Mederos will play different variations of “Don Juan”, a tango from 1910, to show the evolution of the rhythm.
Lovers of tango and audiences looking for an introduction to Argentine tango music will have a chance to be serenaded as Rodolfo Mederos performs live on July 16, 2016, 8:00pm at Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (CCP Main Theater).
