The  Cultural Center of the Philippines, as a Center for Choral Performance,  will hold its 12th Hands-On Choral Workshop on October 21-25, 2014 from 9am to 6pm in various venues of the Cultural Center of the Philippines.  The Choral Workshop is a choral clinic open to amateur choirs who have been in existence for at least two years, and choral conductors, who wish to hone their skills in choral singing, conducting and performance. This highly regarded Workshop has trained choirs and conductors from different parts of the country, some of whom have already competed and won in local and international choral competitions.

The Philippine Madrigal Singers, led by choirmaster Mark Anthony Carpio leads the team of trainors composed of present and alumni members of the world renowned choral ensemble which celebrates its 50th anniversary year with a number of concerts and festivals which started in June 2013. One of these includes the recent ThiNK Madz et al Choral Festival - Thirty Na Kami composed of more than 50 choirs handled by alumni of the Philippine Madrigal Singers at the CCP Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino (Little Theater) on April 1-6, 2014 in celebration of its 30th anniversary.

The Workshop modules include sectional vocal techniques, sight-singing and ear training, individual choir cliniquing sessions, conducting sessions for choral conductors, and a plenary session wherein all the choirs and conductors gather together to learn a common piece. The training program will also provide each choir the opportunity to perform in their own time slot within the five days.

The Workshop will culminate in a program at the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (CCP Main Theater) on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 4pm featuring all the participating choirs and conductors. The program will premiere a new work for large choir composed by Ryan Cayabyab as part of the on-going Festival Mr. C at 60, A Musical Celebration. Mr. Cayabyab will also give a talk on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 3 pm at the Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino.  Due to limited slots for the Workshop, registration is on a first-come-first-served basis.
