DESCRIPTION:

After the huge success of the first Andrea O. Veneracion International Choral Festival held in August 2013, the CCP with the support of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts proudly presents the 2nd Andrea O. Veneracion International Choral Festival on July 22-25, 2015. The Festival will witness 16 foreign and local choirs compete in three categories: Folk Song, Vocal Ensemble and Chamber Choir.

The Festival opens on July 22 with Opening Ceremonies at 5:00PM, followed by the Folk Song Competition at 7:00PM. The Vocal Ensemble Competition will be on July 23 and the Chamber Choir Competition will be on July 24, also at 7:00PM. The Festival’s closing day on July 25 will be highlighted by the Philippine Madrigal Singers Gala Concert at 4:00pm, to be followed by the Awarding and Closing Ceremonies at 7:00pm.

The Competition will premiere the obligatory piece commissioned by the CCP for the Chamber Choir competition entitled “Ang Tren,” a setting of Filipino literary giant Jose Corazon de Jesus’ poem, composed by young award-winning composer Saunder Choi. A jury of five internationally renowned adjudicators from the United States, Latvia, Argentina, South Africa and the Philippines will evaluate the competitors.
